Hi everyone, I mentioned that I was planning to start a let's play of Pokemon Colosseum in the General Discussion Thread about a week ago and have recorded the first part today. I was planning to upload it to my Google Drive but I'm worried I'm going to run out of free space there so uploaded it to youtube as unlisted instead, as it's uploaded to youtube I can embed the video here though.
I don't think it's very good, particularly my commentary but will keep going with it.
Are there any particular pokemon that are available in Colosseum that you would like me to use in this playthrough, I'm planning on using Espeon and Umbreon but the other four slots are free?
Also any ideas for pokemon nicknames, I'm terrible at coming up with nicknames? Edit: Pokemon suggestions:

Much excitement!
I think you know the two I would suggest. And don't feel like you have to use either. Although I know you're fond of one of them anyway. Meganium and Miltank.

Will definately go with Miltank
Was thinking of using Bayleef/Meganium but may have to give it a miss if I opt for Quilava at the start as Bayleef and Croconaw won't be available again till the post game.

Really looking forward to the next installment! Hope it's soon? It's funny that I have almost no familiarity with any of the non-handheld Pokemon games, so this is a completely "new" game to me watching it.

Thanks, hoping to record part 3 soon. Yeah Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness are kind of fairly obsure now but were kind of the closest thing we got to a main series game on a home console using the gen 3 mechanics and having trading with the gen 3 games. Really liked the Orre games and kind of wish the region and Shadow Pokemon would be explored again in future games but it's probably unlikely now.

You should talk more in the battles! I was amused when you simply said "Flaaffy just doesn't want to get caught." I often feel sorry for the Pokemon as they faint, they look so sad/pained! Like Gen 6 / 7, but somehow even more so! It's also quite funny that the NPCs just stand there and let you take their Pokemon. Am I missing something here?? Are they that used to Team Snagem?? 'Cause they're very civil with you afterwards!

Thanks for the feedback, I'm not really always sure what to say during battles but will try to add in some more commentary for part 5 onwards Yeah the animation on the 3D models gives them a kind of pained expression, not sure if that was intended but it is kind of disturbing. Yeah the NPC's are pretty chill about having their pokemon stolen. I can't remember which game it was, Colo or XD but when speaking to one of the NPC's after the battle they seem pretty unaware about what happened, only noticing one of their pokemon has disappeared after the battle but not knowing how it happened.

What happens if you leave a Shadow Pokemon in Hyper Mode for too many turns? Was that explained and I forgot about it? And am I remembering this wrong, or did someone say you can call them to wake them up, too?

Hyper Mode just makes the Shadow Pokemon even less reliable as they can ignore orders or attempt to attack you wasting their turn, you also cannot use items on them or purify them when they are in Hyper Mode. Shadow pokemon are inheriently unreliable to begin with as they can waste turns entering hyper mode and when you have to waste another to call them back out of it.
The Shadow Pokemon mechanics pretty much back up the moral of the games's story that turning pokemon into heartless fighting machines doesn't make them stronger, it's actually the friendships shared between regular pokemon and their trainers that brings out their real power.
